KISS SONIC BOOM TOUR COUNTDOWN!!!

Less then a week and the Sonic Boom Tour 2010 will be annouced, 23rd November. Rumors so far have anticipated that KISS will perform in Europe from late March until autumn next year with a 40 dates tour. Eventim aleady started advertising the June German leg of the tour (possibly 6 dates)

These are the most rumored cities/venues

UK: London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin

Italy: Milan,Rome

Spain: Madrid, Rock in Rio

The Netherlands: Arrow Festival

France: Hellfest, of which you may see the homepage with a nice countdown!!!

Gene Simmons, lead singer, bassist and co-founder of the rock band Kiss, has released his own piece of music memorabilia. The Gene Simmons Axe Bass is a specially crafted musical instrument reproduced from Simmons' own trademark design. Each copy is reproduced from the axe-shaped bass he uses in all Kiss concerts, hand-numbered and signed by Simmons. All the black and silver Axe Basses also come with leather cases bearing the painted likeness Simmons' stage persona, the Demon. "This guitar is, by some accounts a piece of art - my instrument of choice on stage in Kiss: The Bass that slays them all." Simmons said in a press release. "I've used the Axe on stage and literally thousands of people have contacted me to ask, 'Where can I get one?'"

The Axe Bass comes at a price of $5,000 and includes a personal meeting with Simmons at a Kiss concert of their choice during the 2009 Kiss Tour, which marks the release of the band's newest album, "Sonic Boom," the first new studio album in more than a decade. "Sonic Boom" was released October 6. Simmons said the release of the Axe Bass is his way of giving back to Kiss fans. "When I was growing up, I was never able to get a piece of the Beatles," he said. "They weren't available, but they were still Mt. Olympus to me. I owe the fans everything because they made my life possible. My fans are not just buying any guitar, but a moment they'll never forget." Aside from touring with Kiss, a nominee for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Simmons also stars in VH1's rock reality show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels." I grew up on the music and concerts of the Fab Four, I’m not taking about the Beatles. I’m taking about Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter. I have been a fan of all things KISS but there is something special about the four guys that started it all back in the early 70’s. I remember watching KISS Unplugged, in hopes of getting a glance of the old costumes that were displayed in the background, when much to my surprise the originals all got on stage and played together for the first time in over a decade! Later they appeared on the Grammy’s. Then the biggest surprised came when the announced their reunion tour. Read this great story here

SONIC BOOM TOUR ADVERTISING

The European Sonic Boom Tour 2010 seems taking shape real fast. It's rumored the UK shows in May 2010 will be announced on November 23rd with tickets going on sale November 27th, including dates at least in Manchester, London, Birmingham, Glasgow and one in Ireland. Recently it was told Doc McGhee talked about a 40 dates Tour starting in May, in Germany tickets agency already started promoting the tour. Recently Paul revealed to an Italian newspaper that negotiations for Milan and Rome are in the works. More

November 7, 2009 - There’s really nothing changed about a KISS concert in three decades, but yet the band and its fans seem to reinvent themselves each night when showtime arrives. For some, Saturday night’s concert was a chance to emulate legendary rock personas with makeup and costumes, and for others the opportunity to sing along to timeless rock classics was more than enough excitement. But for everyone, it was a shared and unforgettable evening of glorious rock and roll.One quick glance around the Target Center at 9:00pm revealed that the concert was sold out for all intents and purposes, and that full “sold-out sound” arrived when the lights dimmed and guitar tuning could be heard from behind the curtain bearing the band’s logo. AGELESS KISS STILL ROCK AFTER 35 YEARS (by Ross Raihala)

A funny thing happens when you turn 35. People start respecting you. At least that's the case with costumed rockers Kiss, who are celebrating their 35th anniversary with a world tour that's earned them uncharacteristically warm reviews, even from previously hostile corners. Perhaps more surprising is that the band finally has been nominated for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, more than a decade after they were first eligible. Even cool cat Brian Setzer likes Kiss! (Well, I assume he does anyway — he was standing behind me in the will-call line.) Lest anyone worry, the foursome's Saturday night performance at the Target Center proved founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons aren't about to let all that newfound esteem go to their heads.More

Propelled by the business savvy of Gene Simmons, the make-up masked quartet have had its faces and band logo painted, plastered, screen-printed, engraved, and stenciled onto any number of products of questionable utility over the years, but what's out there for the band's more practical fans? GENE SIMMONS AXE BASS EXPERIENCE

I have been a huge KISS fan as long as I can remember. Like many of you, Gene Simmons was my hero. I remember teachers asking me in grade school what I wanted to be when I grew up. I never missed a beat in saying "Gene Simmons." He had the coolest costumes and by far, the coolest guitar on the planet. I remember making myself one out of plywood when I was in grade school and carrying it around my fourth grade Halloween costume parade. (see pic) There's nothing like that Axe bass. About a decade ago, a limited run of the Axe bass was sold through Spencer's. I was not lucky enough to get one. I knew a guy who had one. He used to send me pics of it but that was about as close I ever got. I had even resorted to watching buy and sell sites like E-bay in the hopes of finding myself a good second hand copy. Then one day I stumbled across this website on the net www.GeneSimmonsAxe.com. Gene was offering a limited number of the guitars to fans on this current U.S. tour. Not only could you get a brand new Axe bass, he would personalize it to you AND he would meet you on the tour and present it to you. I couldn't believe it! This was way beyond buying a guitar...this was a "once in a lifetime event" and "tailored made just for me." So I packed up and headed to Nashville for KISS' concert on Oct. 28th at the Sommet Center (seven hour drive). More

VOODOO FESTER GOT A BIG KISS ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT

Rarely are the members of KISS accused of being great musicians or songwriters. Similarly evergreen arena rockers such as AC/DC and Aerosmith are far better bands, in the strictest sense. Just last week at the New Orleans Arena, AC/DC reiterated this point.

KISS built its legend with different tools, specifically showmanship, savvy and just enough songs that are just good enough. Closing out the big Voodoo Stage on Saturday night – could Voodoo Fest have booked a more appropriate Halloween Night headliner than the original Monsters of Rock? – the current members of KISS played at least as well as could be expected. In guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have found sidemen who not only wear the make-up well, but are arguably more proficient technically than the guys they replaced.
